It’s not all work and no play even for a bookkeeper - Article two

Gerrards Cross Bowls club have not been idle in the first few weeks of the season they have had 6 friendly matches against Princes Risborough, Riching Park, Iver Heath, Bassetsbury Manor, Amersham and Rosedale Park. Most of these matches reduced to 4 Triples rather than 6 Triples, the exception being Amersham an all-ladies affair of 3 Triples. The reduction to 4 Triples is due to the current Covid restrictions of no more than 24 people allowed on the green at any one time.

There was also an internal GX Pairs competition organised by Matt (sorry no pictures available of Matt), this was run over 4 evening sessions involving 8 teams and numerous reserves, in the final which went to a Tie Break with Dave and Tim otherwise known as Spam and Noddy prevailing against Andrew and Neil otherwise known as Drew and Nigel. Following on from the success of this competition a GX Triples competition has been arranged.

Over the next few weeks the bowls season starts to ramp up with the early rounds of National, London & Southern Counties, Watford & District, Buckinghamshire competitions. This month also sees the start of the first club competition this being the over 55s pairs league which is run during the season with the final at the end of the season.

So what have I at The Chalfont Bookkeeping Service Ltd been doing during this early part of the season on the work front its been fairly busy with a new client and early stages of on boarding another. On the bowls front I have played in 3 friendly matches being part of a winning triple twice and losing the other by one shot against a past National champion. Now I am trying to organise the diary to arrange my early round matches in the competitions mentioned earlier in this article.
